"Good Evening Sweetie," Pops wrote like he did all those many moons before. Last Saturday when I met with the medicine man, he asked me who my spirit animal is, and I said I didn't know. He said he felt it is a wolf, a lone wolf. He was partly right. I used to be a lone wolf. I was inspired to write this poem because I want our family to know that we are on our way.
I am a lone wolf, and I’m running to you I’m not looking back, I escaped from the zoo I’m coming to get you so you can be free I’m hoping you’ll come now and run off with me I learned where the bolts are to get out of the zoo You just have to take notes and use a few tools I am a lone wolf, and I’m running to you Come escape, feel good, alive and, awake Just have to be careful of the path that you take I’ve been alone but not lonely you should see what I do I learned all of my skills while alone in the zoo With my arrows I pierce straight into the heart I mastered war and turned it to art I can cut through that crap with my 12 foot lance and restore all the world through love and balance I am a lone wolf, and I’m running to you I pull out an arrow, with a sharp blade The ones that I formed, all uniquely made You will be amazed to see all of my skills I leave nothing dangling and go in for the kill I’m great with my aim and with my bow and my arrow I squint with my eye and see through the narrow I pull back the string with one hand past my face And when I feel steady, “get ready to race” I whisper to my arrow and kiss her goodbye As I look out ahead with only one eye As soon as the arrow passes my bow Takes only a second for your heart to know I am a lone wolf, and I’m running to you Now, I don't wield arrows with little sword tips Instead I yield old words that used to be hip Still doesn’t mean I ain't aiming straight for your heart The first arrow I fire is the silly word ‘fart’ And if that one don’t pierce I’ll try something more fierce Like “hey diaper head Why did you wet your bed?” And when I finally see that smile sinister I’ll smile right back and say, “Hey brother! or Hey Sister! I am a lone wolf, and I’m running to you In that old cage while trapped in the zoo While I was in rage, I couldn’t stop thinking of you I spent all of my time Perfecting my rhymes Come on my run And I’ll show you my fun I never stop running after the mysterious FOX The name of the game is to put it in box I’m tired of being so forking darn serious But If I start balancing truth they’ll think I’m delirious It’s not their problem’ they shouldn’t listen to me I’m happy just writing for stand-up comedy What is your story, I’m waiting to see One frame at a time please show it to me. I am a lone wolf, and I’m running to you Follow Our Xcitement is what I call F.O.X. A mysterious thing that won’t fit in a box It’s more like adventure that just never ends I’m empowered by questions and all the new trends Between truth and uncouth, I find all of the answers It’s a delicate dance that made me a dancer Come with me to run after that FOX entity It’s a race forever and beyond infinity I am a lone wolf, and I’m running to you “Hey sister, hey brother We all come from mother Will you run with me after the FOX? As soon as we nab some we’ll put it in box You are family now so time to get breathing I cross my heart to stop all my teasing Why don’t we wrestle instead on the soft red rug Or do something simple like a much needed hug What do you say, can you hear the call? I’m not just searching for you, I’m after them all We will run real fast and keep our hearts steady I hope you can last; feel like you’re ready? I won’t let you keep lying there alone in the sack If you can’t keep up this time, I’ll be back with the pack We are lone wolves, and we’re running to you We’re not looking back, We escaped from the zoo We’re coming to get you so you can be free We’re hoping you’ll come now and run off with we We learned where the bolts are to get out of the zoo You just have to take notes and use a few tools We are lone wolves, and we’re running to you Come escape, feel good, alive and awake Just have to be careful on the path that you take We’ve been alone but not lonely you should see what we do We learned all of our skills while alone in the zoo With our arrows we pierce straight into the heart We mastered war and turned it to art We can cut through the crap with our 12 foot lance and restore all the world through love and balance We are lone wolves, and we’re running to you We pull out an arrow with a sharp blade The ones that we formed, all uniquely made You will be amazed to see all our skills We leave nothing dangling and go in for the kill We’re great with our aim and with our bows and our arrows We squint with one eye and see through the narrow We pull back the string with one hand past our face And when we feel steady, “get ready to race” we whisper to our arrow and kiss her goodbye As we look out ahead with only one eye As soon as the arrow passes the bow Takes only a second for your heart to know We are lone wolves, and we’re running to you Now, we don't wield arrows with little sword tips Instead we yield old words that used to be hip Still doesn’t mean we ain't aiming straight for your heart The first arrow we fire is the silly word ‘fart’ And if that one don’t pierce We’ll try something more fierce Like “hey diaper head Why did you wet your bed?” And when we finally see that smile sinister We’ll smile right back and say, “Hey brother! or Hey Sister!
