People on our planet over the ages have tried to answer the question of what is Love. Love is a mystery that can never be defined, but here are some good attempts:
From the New Testament we have: Love is Patient Love is Kind Love does not envy Love does not boast Love is not proud Love does not dishonor others Love is not self-seeking Love is not easily angered Love keeps no records of wrongs Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the Truth Love always Protects Love always Trusts Love always Hopes Love always Perseveres Love never fails From Yogananda we have: "Divine love is without condition, without boundary, without change. The flux of the human heart is gone forever at the transfixing touch of pure love" From the Quran, we have: “The word ”love” in the Qur’an appears on over 90 places but interestingly it does’nt define the word love but speaks about the very first consequence of love…”committing.” Islam talks about commitment . If you truly love , then commit, if you do not commit then your claim of love is not real. – Sheikh Yassir Fazaga From the Old Testament, Psalm 130:7 we have: "Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption." Where is Love found? It seems most religions believe that God is many things Like Love, Merciful, Kind, and Generous. Where is God found? It looks like He or She resides within us: And we have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and we are closer to him than his jugular vein. (Quran 50:16) "The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor with they say, 'See here!' or 'See there!' For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:20-21) Is Love infinite? Is God infinite? If something is infinite, can we ever know everything about it? Can all of our religious books contain all the knowledge about God if God is infinite? Don't Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and Jews believe in an infinite God? |
